With St. Patrick’s Day coming up next Thursday, March 17th and plenty of things to do in Charleston that day/night, we’re here to help you stay safe as you celebrate Irish heritage or if you just happen to be going out that evening.
Whether you plan on having a few drinks or not, be sure to plan your evening’s activities including finding a safe passage home. Even if you aren’t drinking, there’s a good chance that others will be so make sure you and your friends know where you’ll be heading and arrange a ride home together. There are plenty of taxi services in Charleston, along with Uber Charleston.
If you’re going out with friends, be sure to keep an eye on each other the best you can. Don’t let anybody wander off or decide to drive if they’ve been drinking. If anyone offers you a ride home and they’ve had a few too many, politely decline and say you’ve got your trip home arranged.
There are plenty of great restaurants in Charleston so make sure and have a meal before, during and/or after you go out for the evening. Keep water handy and ask for a glass/bottle in between drinks to make sure you stay hydrated.
If you’ve decided to be the designated driver for your friends or family, drive slow and be on high alert. Even if you haven’t been drinking, there may be others who wrongly decide to drink so stay alert and report any suspicious drivers you encounter on the road.
If you decide to play it safe and host your own St. Patrick’s Day celebration, be sure to check and test your home security system, especially if you let people stay the night. If you have people over that you don’t know, make sure your home camera system are recording properly (if you have them installed) so that if anything ends up missing you’ll be able to capture any theft events.
Here at Charleston Security Systems we’re wishing you a fun and safe St. Patrick’s Day in Charleston and if you need help ramping up the security at your home or business this year, feel free to give us a call.
